**Key Responsibilities**

We are looking for an experienced Principal Ecologist to lead and inspire our team of ecologists and arboricultural consultants.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ecology and experience leading teams of ecologists and arboricultural consultants.

This role requires the ability to manage a diverse portfolio of projects, ensure they are delivered on time and within budget, and uphold the reputation of our service through rigorous quality control.

The salary for this position is estimated to be between £42,588 - £47,793 per annum, depending on experience.

Your Background and Experience

  • You will have a degree in ecology or a related field and membership of CIEEM.
  • You will hold relevant protected species licenses (levels 1 and 2 for bats) and ideally be eligible as the Named Ecologist on mitigation licenses within the past three years.
  • You will have five years' experience as a Senior Ecologist or Principal Ecologist, with extensive experience of habitat and protected species surveys and writing habitat management plans.
  • You will have knowledge and experience of Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA), Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA), Preliminary Ecological Assessment (PEA), BNG assessments along with experience of working with the planning and development of infrastructure, construction and green infrastructure projects.
  • You will have sound knowledge of UK and EU wildlife legislation and policy.
  • You will have experience of leading, managing, motivating and monitoring the performance of individuals and teams.
  • You will have a valid UK driving licence and access to own transport with business insurance use.
