About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Chef Assistant to join our team at THE PIG in the Cotswolds. As a key member of our kitchen team, you will be responsible for supporting our Head Chef in the management of our kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head Chef in the overall running of the kitchen, ensuring high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with our suppliers, negotiating the best possible prices and ensuring timely deliveries.
  • Support the Head Chef in managing food costs and budgeting, identifying areas for cost savings and implementing effective solutions.
  • Work closely with our Kitchen Gardeners to utilize our kitchen garden produce, ensuring maximum efficiency and minimizing waste.
  • Plan and manage kitchen team rotas, ensuring adequate staffing levels and minimizing overtime.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, food handling and dietary requirements, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Encourage the development and support of the kitchen team, providing training and guidance to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Take an active role in leading, teaching, and inspiring our kitchen apprentices, mentoring them to achieve their full potential.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Sous Chef in a similar establishment, with a strong track record of leadership and team management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, food handling and dietary requirements, with the ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
