Job Overview


We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to lead our asset management team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building surveying, investment planning, and team leadership.



About the Role


This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary range of £50,000-£55,000 per annum, depending on experience. As a Senior Asset Building Surveyor, you will work across our national property portfolio, leading projects that involve housing, refurbishment, and remediation works.



Key Responsibilities



  • Deliver programmes of housing, refurbishment, and remediation works to properties, ensuring governance approvals are in place, budget control, and objectives are fully met.
  • Review our portfolio and ensure investment plans are in place for each individual site and estate, liaising with internal colleagues and key stakeholders to work up programmes and budgets.
  • Develop long-term survey requirements to meet future business needs, supporting survey programmes, property inspections, and ensuring quality assurance is high and data collected is accurate.
  • Evaluate and conduct financial appraisals of schemes, achieving the best possible outcome with realistic solutions.
  • Drive positive working relationships with contractors, influencing appropriately to ensure win-win outcomes around complex schemes.


Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • Experience of working on projects (private or public sector) as a Building/Projects Surveyor or similar, including investigating, diagnosing, and conducting complex property condition surveys, inspections, specifying remediation works, and working with external partners.
  • MRICS or MCIOB accreditation or equivalent and strong experience in building surveying and investment planning built up through your working profession.
  • A current knowledge of building construction, design, and CDM requirements, as well as relevant codes of practice, building regulations, health and safety legislation, standards, and materials.
  • An eye for detail, the ability to influence, and creative thinking to find efficient solutions.

Location


This role can be based in either our Leeds or Newcastle Upon Tyne office, with typical travel expected to be a couple of days a month.
