About the Role
LanzaTech is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Project Manager/Director to lead the planning, development, and execution of our strategic objectives in the UK and beyond. As a key member of our Commercial team, you will report to the Managing Director of LanzaTech UK and assume a critical role in driving our company's growth and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, from conception to completion, with a focus on exceeding LanzaTech and client expectations.
- Identify and align with LanzaTech and client goals, objectives, and expectations, ensuring seamless project execution.
- Manage internal and client communication, resolving issues and ensuring project documentation meets internal and client specifications.
- Liaise with project partners and government monitoring officers on grant-funded projects, ensuring compliance and regulatory requirements are met.
- Direct internal project resources, coordinate meetings, and produce project reports, ensuring timely and accurate project execution.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, risk registers, and cost expenditures, ensuring contractual requirements are met.
- Accurately forecast project duration and resource requirements, ensuring effective project planning and execution.
- Manage and review change order impacts on project budget and schedule, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines.
- Initiate and manage subcontracted projects for engineering, fabrication of modules, piping, structural steel, and vessels, and other services such as painting, insulation, and E&I work.
- Ensure fabricated equipment meets internal/client specifications and regulatory requirements, ensuring high-quality project delivery.
- Travel to client facilities and plant sites for meetings, project reviews, and equipment inspections, as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a comparable engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of project execution and project management experience, with a proven track record of managing multimillion-dollar design and construction projects.
- Skilled in MS Office suite and MS Project, with excellent interpersonal (written and oral) skills and a high degree of professionalism and customer service.
- Able to demonstrate effective coordination, planning, and organizational skills, with leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proven experience in managing and evaluating equipment suppliers, engineering firms, and subcontractors, ensuring project schedule, budget, and quality requirements are met.
- Experience with quality control protocols throughout project execution, with a self-motivated and independent work style.
- Ability to apply project management fundamentals and industry best practices to solve problems, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement processes.
- Prioritize, organize, and effectively manage project team's work, with the ability to provide leadership to the project execution team.
- Able to work legally in the UK, with a valid passport for international travel.
Preferred/Valued
- Experience with oil & gas, fermentation, process development, and/or process operations in a bioprocessing facility.
- Experience licensing technology, and executing projects with technology licensors and/or EPC companies.
- Prior plant engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up experience.
- Track record of taking on big challenges and striving to change the world.
