Senior Financial Controller

BNY is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Entity Controller to join our Pershing EMEA Finance team in Liverpool. This is a hybrid role that requires strong financial control and leadership skills.
The successful candidate will be responsible for financial control across the business, acting as the first line of defence. They will review the control environment within Finance to ensure the controls in place are acceptable for the risks associated, while performing ad-hoc testing to confirm processes work as planned.
The individual will maintain the control environment, including reconciliations, and provide high-quality reporting to stakeholders. They will be responsible for a group of legal entities and will supervise a team of more junior legal entity controllers.
This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to transform data into information for reporting purposes. The successful candidate will ensure all legal entity requirements are met for regulatory compliance and reporting purposes.
- Produce monthly financial and management accounts accurately and to timetable
- Provide analysis and insight into financial results, identifying and resolving issues within our revenue and expense lines
- Ensure that the balance sheet is maintained and reconciled accurately, particularly ensuring any potential impairment is considered proactively
- Manage and complete the Financial Year end process with the delivery on approved Financial Statements
- Work in partnership with our India-based service team partners to support the efficiency and accuracy of the Financial Control functions
- Ensure that Sub-ledger accounts that are maintained across the business are subject to a high degree of control and reconciliation
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required. MBA or CPA/CA/local area equivalent certification preferred
- Relevant work experience required, with some management experience preferred. Knowledge of GAAP and accounting and finance concepts and analysis techniques preferred
- Significant experience and commercial awareness in the Financial Services industry
- Good leadership skills with proven record
- Good decision maker, responsible and accountable
- Deadline driven with effective time management and ability to work under pressure
- Able to manage risk in a highly regulated and controlled environment
- Highly motivated, fast learning and proactive with an ability for problem solving
