About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational Support Assistant to join our team at a Behavioural Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Leicester City Centre. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational and emotional development of students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualised support to students, both one-on-one and in small interventions, to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Support classroom management and promote positive behaviour through consistent and fair SEND practices, collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers and parents, and participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Implement strategies to support students' social and emotional development, and assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom resources.
  • Provide support during school activities, including outings and special events, and contribute to the overall well-being of the students.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs and challenging behaviours.
  • A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
