Position Overview

GSL Education is collaborating with a Primary School in Leicester to find a dedicated Teaching Assistant who will focus on delivering targeted interventions.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a dynamic team of committed educators and support personnel.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting both the teacher and students, as well as engaging in various extracurricular activities offered by the school.


Main Responsibilities
  • Support designated students and small groups under the guidance of the teacher, including the execution of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and maintaining accurate records of interventions.
  • Provide daily updates on student progress to the class teacher and modify supporting documentation as necessary.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with all students, serving as a role model by demonstrating a positive personal image and responding effectively to individual needs.
  • Encourage the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom environment.
  • Oversee lunchtime activities and ensure a safe and engaging environment.
  • Attend to students' personal requirements, including pastoral care, social support, health, hygiene, minor first aid, and overall welfare.

Candidate Profile
  • A minimum Level 2 qualification in Supporting and Learning, with prior experience in providing intervention support.
  • Experience supporting a full class for at least one year is preferred.
  • Creative, enthusiastic, and engaging personality.
  • Desire for personal and professional growth.
  • Current DBS registration with the update service, or willingness to apply for a new one.
  • Ability to provide references from work or university covering the last two years.
  • Experience with phonics is advantageous, though training will be provided.
