Special Educational Needs Support Assistant – Primary SEN

GSL Education is seeking dedicated Support Assistants to join a well-regarded SEN School. The ideal candidates will have experience working with children across Early Years to Year 6.

This institution is devoted to fostering a secure, nurturing, and stimulating atmosphere that allows all students to engage in high-quality educational experiences tailored to their unique needs and interests. The school accommodates a range of special educational needs, including Autism, PMLD, MLD, Down Syndrome, ADHD, and challenging behaviors, with varying degrees of severity among the students.

This role is initially on a bank basis but has the potential to evolve into a full-time position.
Working hours: 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-on-one and general classroom assistance
  • Supporting students with daily tasks
  • Collaborating with the class teacher to plan and implement educational activities
  • Creating and managing classroom displays
  • Monitoring student progress and ensuring a safe learning environment
  • Working across both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 to provide additional support as needed.

Each classroom comprises 10 students, supported by 1 Teacher, 2 Learning Support Assistants, and a strong leadership team.

The ideal candidates will possess:

Experience in working with various special educational needs and a DBS registered with the update service. Applications from both Primary and Secondary trained Teaching Assistants are welcomed. Additionally, we encourage applications from graduates, university students, youth/support workers, residential support staff, and those with experience in working with children and young people.

GSL Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates applying for positions through GSL must undergo or have undergone an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS, with full assistance provided.

This role is intended to start on a supply/bank basis, with the possibility of becoming a long-term opportunity for the right candidate.
