Ely Diocesan Board of Finance (EDBF) Job Opportunity

The Ely Diocesan Board of Finance is seeking a skilled administrative support officer to provide vital assistance to the Ordained Ministry Pathway Team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Ordained Ministry Pathway Team with administrative tasks, ensuring the smooth running of the discernment process.
  • Process paperwork and arrange meetings for candidates exploring their vocation.
  • Coordinate the transition of candidates between different parts of the process.
  • Arrange and attend meetings, taking minutes as required.
  • Provide administrative support to the team, ensuring efficient day-to-day operations.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to yearly ordinations, including the Ordination service and pre-ordination retreat.

Specific Tasks

  • Manage the diary of the Diocesan Director of Ordinands (DDO) and Curate Training Officer.
  • Collate and submit papers for all candidates as required.
  • Liaise with candidates, the team of Assistant DDOs, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate information exchange.
  • Support the organisation of the Ordination service, including ticketing, photography, car parking, and disabled access.
  • Help organise the pre-ordination retreat, liaising with the retreat centre and leader.
  • Organise meetings, prepare and circulate agendas, and produce minutes.
  • Book and arrange external events as required.
  • Liaise with the Finance Department to ensure efficient administration of Diocesan grants for ordinands.

Requirements

  • Excellent secretarial skills and high standards of competence in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanour.
  • Previous experience at a similar level.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy with written material.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Event management experience is desirable.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • A high level of confidentiality.
  • The ability to prioritise workload.

Terms and Conditions

  • Salary: £24,000-£27,000 (dependent on experience).
  • Working hours: full-time (35 hours per week), within a standard 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Location: Flexible, with time in the Diocesan Offices (Ely) to be agreed.
  • Contract: Full-time (subject to the successful completion of a 3-month probation period).
  • Pension: Membership of The Church Workers Pension Fund (non-contributory).
