About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Specialist in Learning Disability Casework to join our Intensive Support Team on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. The successful candidate will have experience working with adults who have a learning disability, mental health, and/or Autism, and who present with behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work within a specialist clinical team providing a service to adults who have a learning disability, mental health, and/or Autism.
  • Provide support via assessment, behavioural interventions, risk assessments, relapse plans, positive behavioural plans, and monitoring of service users' needs.
  • Promote national learning disability agendas, including Transforming Care, Positive Behaviour Support, and mental health recovery models.
  • Be aware of the need to protect individuals from abuse and harm in line with local safeguarding policies and procedures.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • RNLD/RMN/Dip OT/Dip SW.
  • Registered with NMC/HCPC/SWE.
  • BSc in community health studies or equivalent qualification.
  • Evidence of post-registration training/qualifications.
  • Demonstrable evidence of participation in continuous professional development.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Good knowledge of working with people with a learning disability and their families and carers.
  • Good knowledge of making reasonable adjustments for people with learning disabilities and vulnerabilities.
  • A good level of knowledge of current policies and legislations that impact upon people with a learning disability.
  • At least two years post-registration experience working with people with complex health needs in the field of Learning Disability and/or Mental Health.
