About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Database Administrator to join our team at PayPoint plc. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our Microsoft SQL Server environment.

Your primary focus will be on maintaining and improving the performance of our database systems, as well as implementing new installations and upgrades. You will work closely with our Business Intelligence, Application Support, and Development teams to ensure seamless integration and cross-training.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining and optimizing Microsoft SQL Server 2008+
  • Designing and implementing high availability and disaster recovery solutions
  • Developing and implementing performance tuning and query plans
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate risks to the environment
  • Providing expert-level support for database-related issues

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Database Administration in a Project or Operations environment
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008+
  • Strong understanding of performance tuning, query plans, HA & DR solutions, and partitioning
  • Experience with T-SQL, SQL Server upgrades, and cloud migrations
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation tools like PowerShell and Terraform
  • Experience with SSIS, SSRS, and Power BI

Desirable skills include:

  • PCI – DSS Compliance knowledge
  • NoSQL – Mongo
  • Understanding of Solarwinds, Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus, and Service Now
