Ophthalmic Specialist

We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our team at the Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our glaucoma and cataract services.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing evidence-based care to patients in a multidisciplinary setting, working closely with colleagues to achieve excellent patient outcomes. You will also be expected to contribute to the leadership and development of our services, working in partnership with colleagues across the Trust.
Main Duties- Provide high-quality patient care, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to achieve excellent outcomes.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of our glaucoma and cataract services, working closely with colleagues to identify areas for improvement.
- Participate in clinical audit and continuing medical education, staying up-to-date with the latest developments in ophthalmology.
- Undertake direct supervision of junior colleagues, providing guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Work in partnership with colleagues across the Trust to achieve our business objectives, contributing to the development of clinical policies and procedures.
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist who possesses the following qualities:
- GMC registration and CCT (or equivalent) in the specialty of ophthalmology.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to contribute to the development of our services.
- Ability to work flexibly, including participation in an out-of-hours consultant rota.
