We are seeking an exceptional Consultant Ophthalmologist to join our team at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing evidence-based care to patients in a multidisciplinary setting, working closely with colleagues to achieve excellent patient outcomes. You will also be expected to contribute to the leadership and development of our services, working in partnership with colleagues across the Trust.

Main Duties
  • Provide high-quality patient care, working in a multidisciplinary team to achieve excellent outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of our glaucoma and cataract services.
  • Participate in clinical audit and continuing medical education, staying up-to-date with the latest developments in ophthalmology.
  • Work in partnership with colleagues across the Trust to achieve our business plans and objectives.
  • Undertake direct supervision of junior colleagues and participate in departmental teaching programs.
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist who is passionate about delivering high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have:

  • GMC registration and CCT (or equivalent) in ophthalmology.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • A strong commitment to continuing professional development and staying up-to-date with the latest developments in ophthalmology.
