Land Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Land Director to lead our Eastern regional Land Team based in our St Albans office.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for acquiring land and ensuring site selection aligns with our defined criteria.
You will maintain budgetary control over all aspects of the Land Department's operations, including approving additional costs on land projects and agreeing exceptions to project budgets to maintain profit margins.
As a motivating and supportive manager, you will lead a team of Land Buyers, responsible for their career development, setting and meeting their targets, and conducting necessary training and one-to-ones.
Your communication skills will be professional and enable you to build strong internal and external relationships, particularly with the Regional Managing Director, Main Board, and external stakeholders such as Solicitors, Local Authorities, Estate Agents, and Surveyors.
The role requires extensive travel within the region, so you must have a valid UK Driver's License.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acquire land in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Maintain budgetary control over Land Department operations
- Lead and develop a team of Land Buyers
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Travel extensively within the region
About You
We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled Land Director with a proven track record in land purchase and a sector-associated qualification such as RICS or MRTPI would be desirable.
You will have advanced negotiation skills, tact, and the ability to influence others with clear, professional communication skills and confidence to present in meetings.
