About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our Pre-Construction Estimating team at AmcoGiffen. As an Estimator, you will play a crucial role in supporting the pre-construction and estimating function, working on a variety of projects and frameworks in rail and non-rail infrastructure workstreams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the pre-construction and estimating function with tasks such as checking tender information, producing quantity take-offs, and preparing subcontract and material enquiry documentation.
  • Analysis of subcontract, supplier, and merchant quotations, including normalization.
  • Discussion and agreement of resourcing and works outputs with the planner, bid manager, and delivery team.
  • Support the bid team by producing methodologies for works delivery to go with tender submissions.
  • Attend internal bid team meetings as required.
  • Liaise and work with the tender planner to ensure the tender programme meets or exceeds the client's programme aspirations.
  • Preparation of tender/price using the first principles estimating process.
  • Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, and merchants.
  • Production of a clear and understandable tender book/pricing document for internal adjudication/settlement.
  • Preparation of client's tender pricing document(s) for submission.
  • Ensuring tender/price is presented to clients accurately and coherently, and to the commensurate level of detail required.
  • Assist in compiling client post-tender clarification responses in a timely manner.
  • Handover to the commercial team on successful bids.
  • Input into the post-tender analysis process.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in the construction industry, either as an Estimator or in an operational role looking to transition into pre-construction and work winning.
  • First principles estimating experience.
  • Civil engineering project experience.
  • Experience in a civil engineering and/or rail contractor organization.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and estimating software.
  • Rail experience would be beneficial, but civils experience in other sectors such as highways will be considered.
