Job Title: Structural Engineer Location: Barrow-in-Furness Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join our Dynamics team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing complex simulation and analysis of structures and mounting systems to ensure the continued functionality of vital equipment during naval shock events. Key Responsibilities: * Perform simulation and analysis of structures and equipment subjected to dynamic loading * Provide structural design guidance at design reviews with respect to naval shock load cases * Follow internal procedures and develop evidence of compliance through written calculations and reports * Undertake peer review checking activities to approve methods and calculations * Lead and support the identification and rapid closure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages * Lead technical development and research activities, methods, and acceptance criterion, liaising with industrial partners and external customers as necessary * Provide realistic programme status, identify problem areas, and implement agreed recovery plans Requirements: * Mechanical Engineering Degree (or related STEM degree) * Understanding of the principles of structural mechanics and dynamics * Understanding of material strength properties (elastic and plastic properties) * Experienced in using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software Desirable: * Knowledge of MatLab, MathCad, and Python * Abaqus FEA software knowledge or a willingness to learn Benefits: As a member of our team, you will receive a competitive salary, enhanced annual leave allowance, and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan.
