Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer

Job Summary:

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for the analysis and design of complex steel structures utilizing Eurocodes, British Standards, and BAE standards to support submarine build.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analysis and design of complex steel structures
  • Utilization of computer-based analytical techniques, including finite element analysis, CAD modeling, and engineering schematics
  • Supporting manufacturing, assembly, lifting, handling, and installation processes of submarine structures, modules, and components
  • Supporting a busy environment in utilizing knowledge of the facility and site restrictions applicable to the shipping, handling, alignment, and installation of hull units, large equipment, and structures
  • Production of concept drawings, layouts, and other technical outputs consistent with contractual requirements to meet target dates and budget demands
Requirements:
  • Engineering degree (BEng/MEng or equivalent) or HND with extensive years' experience in Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering
  • Experience in undertaking hand analysis and design techniques, including report writing
  • Understanding of Eurocodes and British Standards
  • Good understanding of mechanical engineering, structural steelwork, and knowledge of lifting, handling, and LOLER
  • Working knowledge of ABAQUS, S-Frame, Foran, MathCAD, and Excel
  • Member of a Professional Institution (IMechE, ICE, IStructE) with Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or working towards Incorporated Status with the aim of progressing to Chartered Engineer (CEng) status
Desirable:
  • Previous knowledge in a production environment, with experience in a marine production environment advantageous

The Specialist Structures Department team is responsible for engineering assessments of designs in support of build. As a Senior Engineer, you will be working with a dual-function team (design and engineers) consisting of 14 people at various seniority levels (S3, S4, S5).
