We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Planning Policy Officer to join our Development Services team at Castle Point Borough Council.
This is an exciting opportunity to shape the planning policy framework in a vibrant area with four towns and beautiful rural landscapes.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement planning policies and strategies, aligning with national and regional guidelines.
- Lead complex planning policy projects from start to finish, conducting public consultations and engaging with stakeholders.
- Perform in-depth research and data analysis to inform policymaking, generating comprehensive reports and presentations for council sessions and external parties.
- Collaborate with the Development Control team to ensure adherence to policies, representing the Council at public inquiries and hearings.
- Provide expert planning policy advice to council members and the public, guiding and assisting junior planning officers in the department.
The ideal candidate will have a degree in planning or a related discipline and preferably a Licentiate or full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
They will be a seasoned professional with excellent communication and project management skills, able to work effectively in a hybrid environment.
