Special Education Assistant Position: We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Teaching Support specialist to join our team at Austin Fraser in Wakefield. This full-time role involves working closely with the teaching staff to provide personalized support to children with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).

Responsibilities:
  • Developing Individual Plans: Collaborate with teachers to create and implement tailored educational programs that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Assisting with Daily Activities: Help students with personal care, mobility, and feeding, prioritizing their comfort and well-being.
  • Enhancing Communication: Utilize various strategies to facilitate effective communication, including sign language, communication boards, and other assistive technologies.
  • Providing Emotional Support: Create a nurturing and inclusive environment, addressing the emotional and social needs of students.
  • Ensuring Health and Safety: Maintain a safe and healthy environment, adhering to established policies and procedures.

Requirements:
  • Background and Experience: Prior experience working with children with PMLD is highly beneficial.
  • Skills and Qualifications: Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, patience, and a caring attitude. Relevant qualifications in special education or a related field are preferred.

The estimated salary range for this position is £22,000 - £29,000 per annum, based on qualifications and experience.
