Copello is seeking a highly skilled Firmware Design Lead to join our team in Buckinghamshire. This is a remote-friendly role with occasional on-site work required.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented Senior Firmware Design Engineer to lead the design, development and test of new and existing FPGA firmware products for Electronic Warfare (EW) training pods. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in developing production FPGA firmware, ideally for Software Defined Radio, EW, communications or surveillance systems for an airborne environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and test high-speed firmware components on time, within budget and with required quality
  • Peer review of firmware and produce documentation to support it
  • Assist in estimating, planning and progress reporting
  • Provide support to the project and systems teams
  • Collaborate with other project team members to analyse and address project requirements
Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Familiarity with the product lifecycle from system requirements, architecture, algorithm development, modelling, design, integration, qualification, verification, through to production and support
  • Familiarity with engineering processes, practices and measures of performance for the discipline
  • Aptitude for complex problem solving and creativity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivation, confidence, initiative and drive
