We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate volunteer to join our team at the Bristol Dementia Meeting Centre. As a support volunteer, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of individuals living with dementia and their care partners.
Key Responsibilities- Provide warm and welcoming support to meeting centre members with dementia and their carers.
- Assist in developing a friendly and inclusive community at the meeting centre.
- Welcoming and engaging with members, creating a sense of belonging.
- Supporting staff in setting up and delivering activities, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.
- Offering a listening ear and providing emotional support to those who need it.
- Preparing and serving refreshments, contributing to a warm and inviting atmosphere.
- Accompanying members on trips and at events, promoting social interaction and connection.
- Providing information about other services and resources available to support individuals living with dementia.
- Assisting with clearing away after sessions, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- You feel comfortable interacting with older adults, some of whom may have mild to moderate dementia.
- You are willing to learn about dementia and its impact on individuals and their families.
- You will attend Alive's dementia training and other relevant training to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- You will notify the Meeting Centre Manager in advance if you are unable to attend a session.
- You agree to undergo an enhanced DBS check, ensuring the safety and well-being of our members.
- Meaningful connections with your local community, making a positive difference in the lives of individuals living with dementia.
- Opportunities to meet new people and build relationships in your local area.
- Participation in a wide range of engaging activities, from crafts to games to trips out.
- Knowledge and skills in supporting individuals with dementia and their carers.
- First-hand experience of volunteering within social care, enhancing your employability and personal growth.
- Collaboration with trained staff, gaining valuable work experience and insights.
