About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate volunteer to join our team at the Bristol Dementia Meeting Centre. As a support volunteer, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of individuals living with dementia and their care partners.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide warm and welcoming support to meeting centre members with dementia and their carers.
  2. Assist in developing a friendly and inclusive community at the meeting centre.
What You Will Be Doing
  1. Welcoming and engaging with members, creating a sense of belonging.
  2. Supporting staff in setting up and delivering activities, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience.
  3. Offering a listening ear and providing emotional support to those who need it.
  4. Preparing and serving refreshments, contributing to a warm and inviting atmosphere.
  5. Accompanying members on trips and at events, promoting social interaction and connection.
  6. Providing information about other services and resources available to support individuals living with dementia.
  7. Assisting with clearing away after sessions, maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Requirements
  1. You feel comfortable interacting with older adults, some of whom may have mild to moderate dementia.
  2. You are willing to learn about dementia and its impact on individuals and their families.
  3. You will attend Alive's dementia training and other relevant training to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  4. You will notify the Meeting Centre Manager in advance if you are unable to attend a session.
  5. You agree to undergo an enhanced DBS check, ensuring the safety and well-being of our members.
