Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Foundation Pharmacist to join our surgical pharmacy team on a 12-month maternity leave cover contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly registered pharmacist to gain valuable experience and develop their clinical pharmacy skills in a dynamic and supportive team environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide pharmaceutical care to patients in various specialities on a rotational basis, ensuring that legal and statutory requirements in relation to medicines are met.
  • Carry out duties in the dispensary, including clinical and accuracy checking of prescriptions, dispensing medicines, and dealing with medicines for clinical trial patients.
  • Supervise technicians and trainee pharmacists, and educate patients and/or their representatives about their medicines.
  • Liaise with various members of the multi-disciplinary team, including medical and nursing staff, to provide advice and support on medicines provision.
  • Manage and prioritise own workload to tight deadlines, ensuring urgent work is done and maintaining high standards of patient care.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present written and verbal reports to senior hospital staff.
  • Basic keyboard skills and familiarity with routine office software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in pharmacy practice, obtained through pre-registration training and examination.
  • Able to work as an individual and within a team, with personal organisational attributes and the ability to plan and manage own workload.
