Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated foundation level pharmacist to join our surgical pharmacy team to provide maternity leave cover for 12 months. This is an excellent opportunity for a newly registered pharmacist to gain valuable experience and develop their clinical pharmacy skills.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will work as part of a team to provide a clinical pharmacy service to in-patients across our surgical wards. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out medicines reconciliation, treatment reviews, and discharge prescription validation for surgical patients.
  • Working with our team of pharmacists, technicians, and support workers to provide a high-quality pharmacy service.
  • Providing pharmaceutical care to patients in various specialities on a rotational basis.
  • Ensuring adherence to medicines legislation and accurate record keeping.
  • Supervising technicians and trainee pharmacists.
  • Educating patients and/or their representatives about their medicines.
  • Liaising with various members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic keyboard skills and familiarity with routine office software.
  • Experience in pharmacy practice obtained through pre-registration training and examination.
