Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Probate Tax Director to join our Tax Department, specifically within the Trusts, Probates division. As a pivotal part of our team, you will provide non-contentious probate services via our trust corporation, aiming to expand through cross-referrals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet with prospective clients to outline probate steps, initial requirements, and pricing.
  • Onboard clients, issue engagement letters, handle KYC, and act as main contact throughout probate.
  • Coordinate estate valuations and liaise with partners for shareholder valuations or cross-border documentation.
  • Prepare IHT400 forms, submit to HMRC, and calculate inheritance tax due, advising on payment options.
  • Draft affidavits, submit applications, and correspond with HMRC as needed.
  • Manage asset collection, prepare estate accounts, conduct beneficiary checks, and post Trustee Act Notices.
  • Arrange tax returns up to date of death and for estate administration period.
  • Support regulatory visits, instruct solicitors for legal deeds, and complete HMRC filings.
  • Administer estate funds, review costs, issue fee notes, and support team development.
