Aon Hewitt is offering a challenging role as a Data Scientist for Catastrophe Modelling. As part of our team, you will work on evaluating and managing natural and human-made catastrophe risk from perils ranging from earthquakes and hurricanes to floods, wildfires, and cyber.
Your responsibilities will include interpreting client exposure data, processing it into a format suitable for use in catastrophe models, undertaking sensitivity testing, and providing up-to-date information to clients helping them quantify the impact of ongoing/recent catastrophes. You will also collaborate with academic and industry partners to validate and create innovative solutions for the (re)insurance market.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with the model evaluation team to revise and challenge existing catastrophe models to deliver client views of risk that is more relevant to their business. Your day could be spent working with cyber insurance datasets and cyber catastrophe risk models to generate analytical insights for our clients, supporting team efforts to develop and maintain our global data sets and suite of analytics offerings, or evaluating and validating cyber models.
We are looking for someone with a strong background in mathematics/statistics, finance/economics, sciences/technology, or similar quantitative field, programming skills in Python or R, and desirable qualifications including a PhD/master's degree or equivalent experience.
The salary for this position is around £35,000 - £50,000 per annum depending on location and experience.
