Job Title: Asset Engineering Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Asset Engineering Manager to join our team at SGN. As a key member of our Asset Management Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our gas transmission and distribution system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a range of regulated asset categories, including transmission pipelines, national offtakes, and pressure management apparatus.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation such as the Pipeline Safety Regulations (PSR), Pressure Systems Safety Regulations (PSSR), Control of Major Accident Hazards (COMAH), and Gas Safety Management Regulations (GSMR).
  • Develop and implement an investment strategy and plan that meets our GD2 outputs, while developing similar strategies for GD3.
  • Manage a team of staff, developing their skills and abilities to meet departmental and wider SGN goals.
  • Represent SGN internally and externally, including liaising with HSE and cross-GDN groups as required.
  • Develop and update SGN Management Procedures and Work Instructions, as well as supporting the review and updating of industry documents (e.g. IGEM and UKOPA).
  • Implement and champion new technologies to enhance the efficiency and safety of our business.
Requirements:
  • Highly motivated with good organisational, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communicator at all levels and able to act on your own initiative.
  • High level of computer literacy and associated skills.
  • Commitment to the SGN values and ability to play a key role in your team delivering SGN targets while operating within our safety golden rules.
  • Chartered status with an appropriate professional body would be advantageous, however candidates with a commitment to attain chartership and a demonstrated commitment to personal CPD will also be welcomed.
