Job Title: Policy Planner / Senior Planner - Policy

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy Planner / Senior Planner to join our team at the Environment Agency. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans (DWMPs) for water companies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to Principal Drainage and Wastewater Planners (PDWPs) on the development of DWMPs.
  • Support the review and response to draft and final DWMPs and annual reviews.
  • Build strong relationships with local water and sewerage companies, stakeholders, and operational teams to ensure the development of robust DWMPs.
  • Escalate risks and issues and work with other PDWPs and departments across the Environment Agency.
About the Role:

This is a new, small, dispersed team working predominantly with water companies. The role will be based in Reading or London, with some travel and overnight stays required. You will be working in a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture where everyone feels valued.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge of drainage, surface water, wastewater engineering, wastewater treatment, and/or sewerage systems is essential.
  • Experience of partnering and building relationships, acting as a key interface with customers.
  • An eye for detail and ability to examine and analyse data, presenting facts and findings in a logical and well-structured manner.
