Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Podiatry Specialist to join our Gateshead Podiatry Team. The successful applicant will provide care to patients in various settings, focusing on assessment and treatment using therapeutic reasoning and clinical skills.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent clinical and interpersonal skills, with previous experience working in the NHS and proficiency in EMIS patient record systems being desirable. We offer an induction and ongoing support process to ensure clinicians meet the high standards expected from this service.

Key Responsibilities
  • To deliver high-quality podiatry care in community clinics, patients' homes, care homes, and as hospital inpatients.
  • To assess and review patients appropriately, developing and adjusting care packages tailored to their needs.
  • To provide diabetic care, including identifying risk factors, undertaking annual risk classification, and categorizing patients into risk bands.
  • To manage patients presenting with chronic diseases, autoimmune conditions, and high-risk infectious diseases.
  • To conduct clinical triage of new patients, undertake clinical supervision with junior staff, and perform appraisals.
  • To manage vascular problems, wound management/tissue viability issues, and undertake nail surgery assessments and treatment as necessary.
  • To manufacture and provide insoles, orthoses, and chairside appliances, requiring lone working and autonomous decision-making.
