We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Digital Skills Tutor to join our team at Westway Trust. As a Digital Skills Tutor, you will be responsible for designing and delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences to our adult learners, from Entry level to Level 1.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in teaching adult learners, with experience in devising course outlines and schemes of work. You will be able to work with a variety of exam boards and have a good understanding of the RARPA system. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for this role.

The ideal candidate will have a Level 3 or above subject specialism qualification, such as IT User Skills, and a full teaching qualification for working in adult learning (DTLLS, PGCE or DET). You will also have experience of working with refugees and asylum seekers, and a basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver high-quality teaching and learning sessions, workshops, and tutorials in line with the curriculum requirements and the needs of individual learners.
  • Assess learners' abilities and identify areas for improvement, tailoring teaching and learning methods and resources accordingly.
  • Rigorously monitor and track learners' progress, providing regular feedback and implementing strategies to address areas of weakness or underperformance.
  • Set and mark assignments, tests, and examinations, providing constructive feedback to learners to support their learning and improvement.
  • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment, actively promoting learner participation, motivation, and confidence in professional development.
  • Maintain accurate records of learners' attendance, progress, and assessment outcomes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal requirements.

Requirements:

  • Level 3 or above subject specialism qualification, such as IT User Skills.
  • A full teaching qualification for working in adult learning (DTLLS, PGCE or DET).
  • Experience of teaching adult learners and an understanding of appropriate teaching strategies in a similar role.
  • Experience of devising course outlines and schemes of work.
  • Experience of managing mixed groups of learners.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with a variety of exam boards.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Understanding of the RARPA system.
  • Experience of working/teaching refugees and or asylum seekers.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.
