Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Shift Leader to join our team at One Stop. As a Shift Leader, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our store, ensuring that our customers receive exceptional service and that our store is always clean and well-stocked.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the team to deliver excellent customer service and ensure that the store is always clean and well-presented.
  • Manage the opening and closing of the store, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Be the go-to person for colleagues in the absence of the Store Manager, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Support the Store Manager in coordinating seasonal, community, and charity events, creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Prioritize the replenishment of products that matter to our customers, ensuring that the store is always fully stocked.
  • Take immediate action to resolve any overcharges and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Proactively manage queues in store to deliver a great shopping experience for our customers.
  • Be knowledgeable about the store, coordinating with others to deliver practical actions to improve the store's performance.
  • Look for ways to simplify operations and share ideas with the Store Manager.
  • Understand what may be hindering excellent service and help to remove these obstacles.
  • Resolve colleague queries in the absence of the Store Manager, or escalate to the Store Manager as needed.
  • Ensure the store is staffed appropriately, reacting to short-term absences/sickness by finding cover for shifts.
  • Be a recognized Keyholder for the store, attending alarm call-outs as necessary to ensure the safety and security of the store.
  • Monitor and action internal communications, ensuring messages are acted upon in a timely manner and all colleagues are kept informed.
  • Coordinate colleagues to meet customer needs and store operations, feeding back to the Store Manager any issues with colleagues during shifts.
  • Balance time across service and replenishment areas of the store.
  • Support the Store Manager in managing absence within the store, ensuring return-to-work interviews are conducted for CSA colleagues and absence triggers reported and acted upon in line with the One Stop absence policy procedures.
  • Build meaningful relationships with the Area Manager and People Partner, ensuring knowledge, ability, and confidence to escalate relevant issues, seek advice and support when needed, and benefit from in-the-moment coaching opportunities.
