We are seeking a highly skilled Sickle Cell Disease Quality Improvement Lead to support the delivery of the Sickle Cell Disease Thalassaemia Quality Improvement Project (SCD Thal QiP) portfolio.

About the Job Description

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for someone to join the HIIP as a Clinical Champion/Fellow to help deliver projects within the SCD Thal QiP. The role will work closely with the Healthcare Inequalities Improvement Policy Delivery lead and support the Healthcare Inequalities Senior Professional Advisor (SCD & Thalassaemia).

You will be responsible for ensuring that the delivery of the outstanding SCD Thal QiP portfolio of projects is supported by practical SCD clinical knowledge. Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with a clinical staff rota to support the drafting of rapid responses to Arms Length Bodies, including DHSC and other key stakeholders.

Our goal is to improve access, experience, and outcomes for patients with Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassaemia. Key projects within the SCD thal QiP portfolio include:

  • Facilitating improvements that lead to achieving treatment protocols according to the NICE guideline for pain relief for SCD.
  • Developing and utilising data, evidence, and insights to inform and drive actions for improvement of sickle cell and thalassaemia services.

We require colleagues with a contractual office base to spend at least 40% of their time working in-person.

The estimated salary for this role is £55,000 - £75,000 per annum, depending on experience. Benefits include a comprehensive pension scheme, generous annual leave allowance, and opportunities for professional development.

As a Sickle Cell Disease Quality Improvement Lead, you will have excellent leadership skills and knowledge of the needs of and experience of clinical services provision for the care of patients with Sickle Cell Disease and Thalassaemia. You will be proficient in forming strong relationships to bring about a common goal, working with a diverse range of stakeholders and clinicians at all levels from across the health system.
