Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to join our CAMHS Neuro Developmental team. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to work with children, young people, and their families, providing specialist psychotherapeutic assessments and interventions.

About the Role

This fixed-term post offers a unique chance to engage in psychodynamic work alongside generic CAMHS services, further broadening your scope of practice and enhancing your clinical skills. As a vital member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert assessments, formulations, and therapy to children, young people, and families with complex mental health presentations.
  • Conducting comprehensive neurodevelopmental assessments, developing care plans, and implementing interventions.
  • Coordinating care, managing communications with parents and professionals, and liaising with various agencies involved in the care of children and young people referred to the team.
About Us

You will join a well-established multidisciplinary service, working alongside psychiatrists, psychologists, family therapists, nurses, art therapists, and behaviour analysts. Our supportive network of child psychotherapists fosters an environment of professional growth, reflection, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

As a specialist psychotherapist, you will:

  • Implement a range of psychotherapeutic interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups, grounded in psychoanalytic principles and techniques.
  • Exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, care planning, treatment, and discharge of children, young people, and their families.
  • Contribute to a framework of understanding and care for all service children and young people across all settings and agencies, including those with learning disabilities and challenging behavior.
  • Act as care coordinator when appropriate, initiating, planning, and reviewing CAMHS care plans involving children, young people, their carers, referring agents, and others in the care network.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with:

  • A Master's level qualification in preclinical training at an Association of Child Psychotherapists recognised training school.
  • Postgraduate doctoral level training in clinical child and adolescent psychotherapy at a training school accredited by the Association of Child Psychotherapy (ACP).
  • Experience working in specialist psychotherapeutic assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, and their parents as a member of an NHS multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience working with a diverse range of children and adolescents (ages 0-18) and their parents, addressing a broad spectrum of clinical severity and complexity.
Working Arrangements

This role offers flexible working arrangements, with the possibility of working across CAMHS sites to provide cover for short-term absences when needed. The post holder will be expected to adhere to CNWL policies and procedures, including confidentiality, data protection, information sharing, and code of conduct.

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is approximately £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a range of benefits, including pension scheme, annual leave, and access to ongoing professional development opportunities.
