Child and Adolescent Mental Health Specialist

At South West London and St Georges Mental Health NHS Trust, we are seeking a highly skilled Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our team in the Merton Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) service. The successful candidate will have previous experience working with children and young people in mental health settings and excellent communication and assessment skills.
Job Summary:The Merton CAMHS Tier 3 'Getting More Help' Team specialises in providing evidence-based treatments for children and young people presenting with moderate to severe mental health and neurodevelopmental difficulties. As a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, you will work closely with other clinicians from different disciplines and receive quality supervision. The team is warm and friendly, working in an inviting Listed building.
The Single Point of Access (SPA) provides triage and assessments for children, adolescents, and their families experiencing mental health, neurodevelopmental, and emotional health difficulties. You will contribute to the development of specialist mental health advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to the care of young children and their parents/carers.
The role involves working 3 days in the Tier 3 treatment team, providing direct and indirect evidence-based interventions to young people and families, including working closely with other agencies. Successful candidates will also be supported in developing specialist neurodevelopmental competencies as part of the role and ADOS training is included.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide specialist assessments of children/young people and their parents/carers referred to the service based on complex data from various sources.
- Formulate and implement plans for evidence-based interventions to improve the parent/child relationship.
- Evaluate and make decisions about treatment options considering theoretical and therapeutic models and complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes.
- Provide specialist mental health advice, guidance, and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to the care of young children and their parents/carers.
- Qualified Clinical or Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC as an applied psychologist.
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology, including models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies, and lifespan developmental psychology.
We offer a competitive salary of £46,415 - £62,011 per annum, depending on experience. This role is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Disclosure to check for any previous criminal convictions.
