Postdoctoral Fellow - Molecular

This is a full-time, fixed-term position (4 years) at the Francis Crick Institute, with a competitive salary and benefits package.

As a Postdoctoral Fellow, you will lead your own research project(s) and contribute to other collaborative projects. You will work closely with our team of scientists, including PhD students, postdoctoral fellows, and senior laboratory research scientists.

We use a wide range of models, from animals and human samples to cultured cells and purified in vitro proteins. You will have access to our state-of-the-art core facilities, including BSL-3 and ABSL-3 facilities, and integration with on-site core facilities.

Our team is multi-disciplinary and diverse, with a strong track record of translating our research into policy and treatment. We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment, where everyone feels valued and respected.

The Project

A potential project is to explore the molecular basis of RNA virus replication, focusing on viral genome transcription, replication, and packaging.

You will have the opportunity to decide on the exact project(s) you want to undertake during your postdoc time in the lab, and could choose one of these projects or decide to undertake a new, independent project within the lab's interests.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading your own research project(s)
  • Contributing to other collaborative projects
  • Working closely with the team to achieve research goals
  • Developing and implementing new research ideas
  • Presenting research findings at scientific meetings

Requirements:

  • PhD in Virology, Molecular Biology, Structural Biology, or a related field
  • Strong interest in virology and molecular biology
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience in using bioinformatics tools for sequence analysis
