About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team at Magdalene Limited, a part of M Group Services Limited. As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing high-quality bid and design solutions that meet customer requirements and specifications.

As a key member of our design team, you will work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to refine requirements, provide guidance, and assist with strategy. You will be responsible for designing complex solutions that are deliverable, operational, and commercially sound.

You will perform as a Subject Matter Expert within your technology field, providing technical support, guidance, and implementation. You will also become a trusted advisor to internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Capture and interpret customer requirements, designing complex solutions that meet customer needs while ensuring they are buildable, scalable, repeatable, and utilizing existing standard services and templates.
  2. Act as the key signoff for technical artefacts, including design, implementation, and test approaches, operational, and support handover.
  3. Leverage and influence customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring desired technical and project outcomes while adhering to design standards and principles.
  4. Build a trusted advisor relationship with customers, acting as the Telecom technical end-to-end authority within the business.
  5. Assist in the deployment and operation of customer networks by ensuring the design is followed and any deviations are recorded and reported to the Project Manager.
  6. Ensure quality assurance in the design and implementation process.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years' experience in dealing with SME or larger customers in a technical, solution design, or consultancy role.
  • Good presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present, leverage, and influence internal stakeholders and customers.
  • A self-starter with a clear can-do mentality, able to work under pressure from both customers and internal stakeholders, and produce solution designs that are profitable and deliverable.
  • A sound understanding of best practice in design methodology, Telco business processes, and frameworks (eTOM or ITIL) used to deliver complex solutions.
  • The ability to learn and master new skills and products/platforms quickly.
  • Maintain required technical knowledge up-to-date and drive innovation.
  • Maintain industry-recognised certification(s).
  • Keep current on industry best practices.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all technologies used within customer estates, Telco's, and ensure the ability to clearly articulate the business benefits of solution portfolio.
  • Support or drive further development of design methodology, processes, documentation, and standards used.
  • Good understanding of concepts of High Level Design, Low Level Design, and Bill of Materials, and conversant with developing project costing.
  • Experienced in the Microsoft Office Suite and CAD software such as Visio and Autocad.
