About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Clinical Research Specialist to join our Research and Development team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing post-market clinical research studies for product life cycle initiatives in the contact lens industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage all aspects of clinical evaluation of products, including writing and/or reviewing protocols and related study materials, overseeing study execution, performing or overseeing statistical analysis, and writing and/or reviewing study reports.
  • Participate in broader product management teams (commercial/marketing, professional affairs, regulatory affairs, quality assurance) under the direction of clinical management.
  • Apply strong research design knowledge, hypothesis testing, and technical communication skills to drive clinical research studies forward.
  • Awareness of literature and other knowledge related to contact lenses is essential for this role.
  • Familiarity with basic ethics and regulatory requirements related to medical devices, including GCP/IRB/EC/FDA & ISO standards/EU MDD/MDR, is required.
  • Actively apply learnings from prior experience, current trends in clinical research, and competitor awareness to product life-cycle activity.
  • Publishes or presents in scientific forums, as appropriate.
  • Some travel to clinical sites, CROs, and meetings may be required.
Requirements
  • Clinical or Research degree (Masters or PHD) in Vision Science or Visual Optics or Physiological Optics, or Optometry/Ophthalmology is required.
  • Clinical licensure in the UK is desirable.
  • Optometry/ophthalmology knowledge/experience is essential for this role.
  • Understanding of biological and optical contributors to contact lens safety and performance is necessary.
  • Research design, statistical analysis, medical writing, clinical research ethics, and regulatory knowledge are all required skills for this position.
  • Experience in the contact lens or medical device industry is highly desirable.
