Counseling Specialist

Coordinated Care Services, Inc. is seeking a qualified Counseling Specialist to join our team in Adult Counselling. This role will involve working with students in a residential and day treatment setting, providing education-related counseling and academic advising.
About the Role
The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in School Counseling or related field and NYS certification. Relevant experience in an educational setting is also essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong verbal and writing skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, flexibility, and adaptability. They will be self-motivated, patient, and resilient, with the ability to handle sudden crises and deviations from work plans and schedules.
Responsibilities
This position requires the individual to maintain a productive learning environment within the building, participate in Universal PBIS Process to establish a positive school culture, conduct individual and group education-related counseling and academic advising for students, and attend training and conferences to enhance their skills. The successful candidate will also transition planning with community school district partners, demonstrate cultural sensitivity, research community resources, assist in planning in-service workshops, participate in intake processes, prepare and maintain academic transcripts, communicate student progress, create educational programs, and evaluate and record student programs.
Working Conditions
The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, and climbing. The employee must be able to restrain clients using Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques and may be required to transport clients using an agency vehicle. The Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Training requires the ability to drop repeatedly to knees, twist and turn, exert oneself physically at an intense level, and support another adult's weight.
Educational Requirements
A Master's degree in School Counseling or related field is preferred, along with NYS certification in school counseling. Relevant experience in an educational setting is also required. Self-motivation, strong verbal and writing skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, flexibility, and adaptability are essential. Patience, resilience, and the ability to handle sudden crises and deviations from work plans and schedules are also crucial.
Salary Range
The estimated salary range for this role is $25.90-$38.50 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.
