Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Research Nurse to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical research services, working closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the safe and effective conduct of clinical trials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate expert research nursing care for patients participating in clinical trials.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory requirements, including the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations 2004 and Amended Regulations 2006.
  • Facilitate the recruitment of patients to clinical trials, working collaboratively with the research team to ensure high-quality study conduct.
  • Act as a patient advocate, providing support and assistance as required, and ensuring that patients are fully informed and involved in their care.
  • Supervise the safe administration of experimental therapies and monitor the expected and unexpected side effects of drugs and other treatment modalities used in clinical trials.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical research protocols, ensuring that they are aligned with the Trust's research strategy and priorities.
  • Collaborate with the research team to ensure the effective management of clinical trials, including the coordination of study start-up, conduct, and close-out activities.
  • Provide education and support to healthcare professionals to enable them to care for clinical trial patients and recruit to clinical trials where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of clinical trial activities, including patient data, study protocols, and regulatory documentation.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities to ensure the highest standards of clinical research practice.
Requirements
  • Level 1 NMC Registered Nurse qualification.
  • Experience in clinical research, including clinical trials and research governance.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
