Job Description


The role of Educational Absence Monitoring Officer is crucial in supporting the Education Engagement Team by tracking, monitoring, and improving attendance rates for children and young people. This involves identifying children who are unable to attend school due to various reasons, such as exclusions, medical needs, or part-time timetables. Additionally, this role will involve participation monitoring of the Post 16 cohort, including providing careers advice and guidance to those not in employment, education, or training (NEET).


The successful candidate will have a working knowledge of legislation and guidance relating to attendance and Child Missing Education (CME). They will collaborate with local area partners, educational providers, and colleagues across Worcestershire Children First to ensure that those children not receiving a full-time suitable education are identified and prepared for discussion at the weekly CCAS panel.


Responsibilities


This role includes:



  • Absence monitoring within schools
  • Participation monitoring of the Post 16 cohort
  • Identification of children missing education or elective home education
  • Provision of Child Entertainment and Employment licenses
  • Collaboration with local area partners and educational providers

Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will require:



  • A working knowledge of legislation and guidance relating to attendance and CME
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • The ability to work with diverse stakeholders, including local area partners and educational providers
  • A passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
