Job Summary

The Research Grants Manager will play a key role in supporting the research community at NBI Partnership by providing expert advice and assistance on grant applications and contracts. This includes developing informed project budgets, advising on style and format, and ensuring compliance with external funding organisation rules and institute policies.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead on the management of all grant submissions for a specific customer base on behalf of NBI Partnership
  • Provide quality assistance and expert advice on grant applications
  • Develop informed project budgets matching science project work with resource needs
  • Advising on style, format, general content, writing justifications and management sections
  • Ensure submission deadlines are met
  • Assess risks to the Institutes in accepting certain contractual terms and suggest ways to mitigate them
  • Manage a diverse portfolio of grants and deliver to tight deadlines under pressure

Person Specification

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a science discipline
  • PhD or other postgraduate qualification
  • Ability to assimilate information from a wide variety of sources
  • Able to work independently within a broad framework and with minimal supervision
  • Good prioritisation and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to manage a diverse portfolio of grants
  • Highly numerate with experience of developing budgets for research contracts
  • Proficient with standard office PC applications

Desirable Skills

  • Proven track record of grant administration in a Research Office at a Research Institute or a Higher Education Institution
  • Recent track record of developing successful grant applications with a variety of sponsors
  • Experience of drafting and negotiating research contracts

Working Arrangements

This is a full-time position, and the post holder will be required to work occasional travel and be willing to work outside standard working hours when required.
