Job Title: Research Grants Manager
Main Purpose of the Job:
The Research Grants Manager will play a key role in increasing the success of bids by engaging with scientists, providing information on grant opportunities, and targeting applications to appropriate sponsors. The post holder will add value to submissions through providing quality assistance and expert advice on the application, developing informed project budgets, and advising on style, format, and content.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on the management of all grant submissions for a specific customer base on behalf of NBI Partnership.
- Comply with external funding organisation rules and institute policies and procedures.
- Provide quality assistance and expert advice on the application.
- Develop informed project budgets matching science project work with resource needs.
- Advising on style, format, general content, writing justifications and management sections.
- Have a keen attention to detail and proof read to 'polish' the final submission and ensure submission deadlines are met.
Person Profile:
Education & Qualifications:
Requirement: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a science discipline, PhD or other postgraduate qualification.
Specialist Knowledge & Skills:
Requirement: Ability to assimilate information from a wide variety of sources, work independently, prioritise tasks, manage a diverse portfolio of grants, deliver to tight deadlines, and have high numeracy skills.
Relevant Experience:
Requirement: Proven track record of grant administration in a Research Office at a Research Institute or a Higher Education Institution, recent track record of developing successful grant applications, and experience of drafting and negotiating research contracts.
Interpersonal & Communication Skills:
Requirement: Ability to learn quickly, handle complex ideas, produce clear concise document drafts, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Requirements:
Requirement: Attention to detail, ability to undertake occasional travel, promote equality and values diversity, and willingness to work outside standard working hours when required.
