Senior Housing Benefit Appeals Specialist

Tempest Resourcing Limited is seeking a highly skilled Senior Housing Benefit Appeals Officer to join our team. As a key member of our financial assessment service, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the provision of high-quality customer-centric financial assessment services.
Key Responsibilities:- Support and deputise for the Team Leader, managing a team of up to 14 highly skilled Financial Benefit Officers and Assistants.
- Assess complex cases, carrying out home visits where necessary, to ensure accurate and timely financial assessments.
- Manage Appeal cases and attend Panels and Court Hearings as required, ensuring the highest level of professionalism and expertise.
- Quality-check work carried out by Assessment Officers to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and consistency.
- Provide support to Access Harrow, ensuring seamless integration with our services.
- Maximise Housing Benefit Subsidy of £120 million by satisfying the annual audit undertaken by external Audit of the Financial Assessments.
- Ensure quality and performance targets for the services are met, driving continuous improvement and excellence.
- Recover overpaid benefits exceeding £1.5 million annually, ensuring financial accountability and responsibility.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to Financial Assessment Officers and Assistants on complex finance assessments, ensuring consistency and accuracy across the service.
