Mechanical Engineer Nights

Mars, a leading manufacturer of confectionery and other food products, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join its team in Plymouth. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining the company's equipment and ensuring the smooth operation of its manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on assigned equipment, including process and packaging machinery.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, cleaning, and inspection, to prevent equipment failure.
- Support operations in equipment setup and training of operators in Autonomous Maintenance (AM) activities.
- Document Work Orders (WO) using SAP-PPM Plant Maintenance logging and complete maintenance activities on a daily basis.
- Participate in Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) teams and contribute to the development of maintenance plans and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) Procedures, Confined Space Procedures, and other Plant Safety/Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in diagnosing and fixing mechanical issues within an FMCG environment.
- Suitably qualified in an engineering discipline supported by relevant experience.
- Ability to troubleshoot basic pneumatic and mechanical drive systems at the component level.
- Willingness to develop required technical skills in welding, basic machinist, and fabrication skill sets.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
