About the Role

Capula, a leading provider of advanced system integration, is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Energy team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing electrical and control systems for our clients in the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical and control systems for PLC-based control panels, including cabling, MCCs, drives, and controls.
  • Undertake site surveys to gather information and develop electrical engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with customers to design and implement electrical systems.
  • Prepare and review calculations and designs, ensuring compliance with Capula's procedures and industry standards.
  • Support the production of system designs, documentation, and test documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of Health and Safety documentation and support site acceptance testing and commissioning.
  • Contribute to the production of tender documents and cost estimates.
Requirements
  • Experience in control systems within the energy market or similar utility sector.
  • Competence in field cabling systems, including surveying and identifying routes, cable calculations, and earthing/protection.
  • Experience in control panel design incorporating PLC, I/O, comms cards, and UPSs.
  • Educated to at least degree level in a relevant subject or HND with additional experience.
  • Computer literacy with Word, Autocad, and Excel experience.
  • Methodical approach to interpreting customer requirements and delivering project documentation.
  • Understanding of the full project lifecycle.
  • Current full driving license (UK or ability to convert).
  • Willingness to undergo a basic disclosure Scotland check.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with Rockwell (Control Logix), Siemens (PC7S, TIA Portal), and Schneider (M580, M340) control systems.
  • Site installation and commissioning experience of control systems.
  • Knowledge of Motor Control Centres – specification, procurement, installation, etc.
  • Understanding of BS7671 IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regs and DSEAR Regulations.
  • Awareness of Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511).
  • Ability to work to deadlines and budgets.
  • Familiarity with databases.
