Job Overview

Electrical Design Engineer

Our client, a leading provider of advanced system integration, is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their team. As a key member of the design team, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical systems for control panels and other applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical systems for control panels and other applications
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design meets project requirements
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and specifications
  • Conduct site surveys and design solutions for customer sites
  • Work with production teams to ensure designs are implemented correctly
Requirements
  • Knowledge of designing electrical panels containing PLC's and LV distribution systems
  • Design of electrical cabling and containment systems
  • Educated to at least degree level in relevant subject or HND with additional experience on project implementation
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical, Microsoft office word & excel
  • Ability to achieve security clearance to at least SC level, and possibly DV
  • Excellent communication skills for client contact and mentoring
  • Ability to mentor and develop engineers and technicians
  • Good working knowledge of related safety and environmental legislation
  • Ability to develop technical solutions to meet project and customer expectations
  • Thorough understanding of, or working towards, BS7671 IEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Understanding of IEC BS EN, Low-voltage switchgear and control gear assemblies
  • Confidence to work within a multidisciplinary design team
Desirable Requirements
  • Worked previously in a highly regulated industry
  • Understanding of EMC practices
  • Will hold or will be working towards Chartered or Incorporated Engineering status
  • MEng qualification
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Site experience (survey/install)
