The Deputy Ward Manager (RMN) would support the Ward Manager in providing senior nursing leadership to the ward nursing team supporting inpatient adults within an eating disorder unit.

The ward provides full service provisions focusing on positive physical and psychological outcomes.

The Deputy Ward Manager opportunity would be ideal for an experienced RMN who would like to further develop their leadership skills.

The Deputy Ward Manager (RMN) would have experience in delivering and receiving supervision, with excellent leadership skills and the ability to assess and prioritise clinical situations.

The Deputy Ward Manager would have experience in a similar environment (inpatient acute setting), working with a multi-disciplinary team supporting a wide range of mental health conditions such as eating disorders, schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder and other diagnoses, in safe and highly therapeutic environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting the Ward Manager in providing day to day management and supervision of the ward
  • Assisting the Ward Manager in providing management and supervision of a team of registered and unregistered staff
  • Implementing best practice across the ward
  • Supporting changes within the service
  • Responsible for the clinical direction of the service
  • Supporting the delivery of personalised care and contributing to service improvement
  • Supporting and contributing to MDT practice
  • Implementation and evaluation of therapeutic interventions within an overall care programme
  • Assisting the Ward Manager in ensuring that care and treatment is provided meets the standards set by for this role:

Requirements:

  • Active Registration with the NMC, meeting the requirements of Revalidation
  • Trained Mentor
  • Clinical Supervision experience essential, training desirable
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development and intent to maintain and develop Continued professional development and leadership
  • Highly developed communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Experience in Mental Health or Learning Disability services
  • At least 3 years, or equivalent experience post-registration
