About the Role:

We are seeking a Technical Director to lead our ecology sector business, driving profitable and sustainable growth while managing client relationships, staff development, and project delivery. You will be based in the UK, with some travel and short stays away from home required.

About the Client:

Our client is a respected consultancy, offering advisory and technical services across the built and natural environment. With a strong history dating back to 1926, they support both public and private sector clients, delivering innovative, sustainable solutions.

  1. Lead and deliver the ecology sector business plan, ensuring staff capabilities meet client needs.
  2. Oversee bids and proposals, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and commercial reviews.
  3. Manage and mentor team members, supporting their professional development.
  4. Manage projects with strong financial oversight and commercial awareness.
  5. Lead technical work on key projects, ensuring safety, quality, and environmental responsibility.
What Our Client is Looking For:

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in ecology, environmental management, or a related discipline. The ideal candidate will have a valid CSCS card and extensive knowledge of UK habitats and protected species, with relevant survey and mitigation licences.

Requirements:
  1. Undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Ecology, Environmental Management, or related discipline.
  2. Full membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM).
  3. A valid CSCS card (or willingness to obtain).
Experience:

We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 15 years of consultancy experience working on development and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation and ecological survey methods.

Skills:
  1. Excellent understanding of UK wildlife legislation and ecological survey methods.
  2. Strong project management, analytical, and organisational skills.
  3. Full UK driver's licence.
