The successful candidate will have a strong background in Linux administration, with experience in leading teams and mentoring junior members. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively within the team and with other stakeholders. The estimated salary for this role is £80,000 - £110,000 per annum.

About the Job

As a Technical Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of Linux-based systems, ensuring their reliability, scalability, and security. You will work closely with other teams to integrate Linux systems with existing infrastructure and emerging technologies, driving forward initiatives to improve the self-service nature of our Linux estate.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Provide on-call support through final escalation, as required.
  2. Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the success and impact of Linux initiatives.
  3. Work closely with the Senior Manager of SRE & Platform Engineering and the Principal Linux Engineer to improve the Linux team delivery and support processes across group, unifying all group teams into a single way of working across our group Linux environments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience leading Linux teams preferred, showcasing leadership skills and ability to coordinate and motivate team members effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess market trends and user feedback.
  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies like Docker, indicating an understanding of modern application deployment methods.
  • Certification in Linux administration (e.g., LPIC, RHCSA) desirable, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and validation of expertise in Linux systems management.
