Role Overview:

This newly created Senior Stewardship Analyst role will play a critical part in shaping and executing our strategic stewardship agenda, engagement plan, and proxy vote guidelines, working closely with our EMEA Head of Stewardship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze shareholder meeting agendas and related materials to ensure timely and accurate voting in accordance with our proxy voting guidelines.
  • Engage with boards and senior executives of investee companies on ESG and proxy voting-related issues.
  • Monitor progress towards engagement milestones and maintain accurate records.
  • Collaborate with industry partners on engagements, including CA100+, IIGCC, and FAIRR.
  • Contribute to the integration of our stewardship program into our investment decision-making process and enhance collaboration with fundamental research analysts.
  • Refine our proxy voting policy and contribute to the annual review of our engagement and proxy voting policies.
  • Research and write position papers on strategic engagement themes, such as climate, biodiversity, and human capital.
  • Support client requests and develop presentation materials for clients.
  • Stay up-to-date on global regulatory developments and engage with industry bodies.
  • Contribute to internal education on stewardship and engagement topics.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of sustainability and ESG issues and their impact on investment.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into business-relevant issues for clients, companies, and market participants.
  • Knowledge of stewardship best practices.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence and inspire stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to synthesize key points and form sound judgments.
  • Inclusive and collegiate attitude, with strong partnership skills and ability to work independently.
  • Time management and personal discipline, with ability to work under pressure.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, PhD, CFA, CAIA, Certificate in ESG Investing) strongly preferred.
  • In-depth experience in corporate governance, stewardship, sustainability, ESG, and investment management.
  • Extensive experience integrating stewardship and ESG factors into the investment process.
  • Fundamental research experience strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of engaging with senior executives and directors at portfolio companies.
