Electrical Design Lead for Large-Scale Infrastructure Projects

A seasoned Electrical Engineer is required to spearhead electrical design and system selection for high-profile projects.

Reporting directly to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

  1. Selecting and developing optimal electrical systems and control/distribution schemes to ensure maximum technical efficiency and commercial viability.
  2. Leading the preparation, review, and maintenance of electrical engineering designs and documentation using industry-standard software such as SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) and PTW or Trimble (formerly Amtech).
  3. Collaborating with project management consultancy teams to oversee electrical work, including reviewing and commenting on engineering designs and advising clients on all electrical matters.
  4. Conducting thorough engineering analysis, design, specification, and procedural work to meet project requirements.
  5. Mentoring junior electrical engineers and designers to ensure seamless team performance.
  6. Ensuring timely and within-budget delivery of design project outputs.
  7. Supporting the Proposals team in bid development and production of man-hour equipment/materials estimates.

To succeed in this role, you will require several years of experience as an Electrical Engineer in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industries, coupled with a strong understanding of electrical engineering aspects throughout project phases from conceptual study through FEED and EPC to commissioning and operation.

Desirable skills include:

  1. Familiarity with European and North American codes, standards, and accepted practices in the Oil & Gas Industry.
  2. Experience with electrical design software packages such as PTW, Trimble (formerly Amtech), DIALux, and StrikeRisk.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, prioritizing tasks according to project needs.
  4. Excellent communication skills and commercial acumen.

A Degree in Electrical Engineering would be highly advantageous, as would Chartered Engineer status and prior experience working on projects as a Senior/Lead Electrical Engineer.
